With the minimal amount of records available prior to the industrial revolution, how can you determine its not just a natural cycle?

No one is denying the change. Is it a natural cycle due in part to the earth itself is the question. No one can say, with 100% certainty, not even Gore's so-called scientific consensus study group....

They can, however, scare the beJesus out of everyone.

The hurricane forecasters have lowered the forecast again. They started at 17, then they went to 16. Now it's 15. Yeah, it's global warming. Sea surface temperatures are so scalding out there, that's what's happening.

I can't help but chuckle when the "experts" claim global warming is HEATING the water and causing more severe storms. Then, nevermind, we MEAN'T cooling the waters.
The world's preeminent expert on hurricanes, the guy who established the category system and runs the lab out of Colorado that predicts them every year, says hurricane numbers and intensity have nothing whatever to do with water temps, but with ocean salinity.

He also laughs at the idea that the 2005 hurricane season (a piker by any rational measure, anyway) was in any way "unusual" It was, in fact, he says, right on schedule. Hurricanes run in 20-25 years cycles.
