We just moved from Savannah, GA, to a town near Tucson, AZ. I still read the Savannah newspaper and found this article enlightening, maybe I should email it to Nagin?

No car? Evacuate anyway.

Public transportation is available to get out.

Those without a private vehicle will be able to evacuate from Chatham County on school buses.

Here's how it will work:

When a mandatory evacuation is ordered, Chatham Area Transit buses will take those without their own vehicles to the Savannah Civic Center. The buses will run their regular routes at their regular times and stop at their regular pick-ups points for as long as possible. Each route will end, however, at the Civic Center.

If you drive to the Civic Center, or get a ride from a family member or friend, don't expect to board a bus. They're for people without access to private transportation.

At the Civic Center, people will be organized by need and loaded onto available school buses.

The buses will take people to inland shelters for the duration of the evacuation.

The earliest buses go to the closest shelters and therefore have the shortest trips.

Pets are allowed on the buses, but only if crated, caged, or kenneled.

The buses will be crowded. Be reasonable with what personal belongings you take. One suitcase per person is the general guideline.

School buses aren't air-conditioned. Expect some discomfort.

Several seats on each bus are left empty to accommodate stranded motorists encountered on the way.

It is not the job of the President to call for the evacuation of a city or state. What the hell are the Mayors and Governors there for? It was the Governer and Nagin sitting around with their thumbs up their ass waiting for SOMEONE ELSE to do their job for them.

It is not the job of the Federal Government to stock shelters with food and water. That is the city's job. A job Nagin failed to do. If the President is guilty of anything, it is of not slapping both of those incompetents out of the way and taken charge himself. But there is a sacred document called "The Constitution" that prevents him from doing so.

What gets me is New Orleans elected Nagin again. Why did these people just not drown like they were supposed to.

Well, Scoody Doo, it looks like we're on the same wave length after all.
