Default Since we are such indifferent pricks about New Orleans maybe we could do this here...

"Slum Tourism" Stirs Controversy in Kenya
http://abcnews.go.com/International/...2863852&page=1

From the article...
Any journalist wanting a quick Africa poverty story can find it there in half an hour. And now at least one travel agency offers tours round Kenya's Kibera slum, one of Africa's largest. "People are getting tired of the Maasai Mara and wildlife.
No one is enlightening us about other issues. So I've come up with a new thing — slum tours," enthused James Asudi, general manager of Kenyan-based Victoria Safaris.

Other than wishing Christine Ochieng well with her ideas for a magazine, and unless you have the heart, imagination and wherewithal to follow through with a kind of assistance to their ideas of self-help, what can youdo except not take part in such crass usage of a people. While tramping through the village, peering this way and that, how can you not be aware of the harm you are doing to a peole's dignity.

Wouldn't it be nice if we actually took the time to see & maybe actually cared about fellow humanity. It would be so, so
I don't know Christian of us.....

Also, i must have missed the pertinent thread to warrant your reference to "indifferent pricks about N.O." Citizens of New Orleans, those most hurt by the herricane, appear to have used the system quite well, and had a culture most of us didn't know about. They knew that their geographic position was deadly. FEMA was unprepared and billions were wasted. I see no comparison between an African village of dignified but seemingly destitute people and citizens of N.O. except that they both have rich cultures. Corruption and working the system, as they seem to have done alot of in the Nineth Ward, would remove one's dignity pretty thoroughly.

That post was unclear. You have a lot of thoughts there but you need to flesh them out more. I cannot get a clear understanding of your salient points.

Do you think? It strikes me "Christian" is not a term natural to you. Are you burning out? An idle question: Which comes first in inportance to you, clean air to breath or the lungs with which to breath it. An individual is capable of unbelievable kindness and thoughtfulness toward another, but personally, I'd rather see less people and cleaner air. This doesn't need to make sense does it? Don't be discouraged. You'll find glimpses of your humanity here and there.

Sorry, you referred to both the article on "Pitty Tours" in Africa, and New Orleans, and I was trying to hit all possible connections - while being ignorant of the original thread concerning N.O. Was there a thread? Perhaps you can direct me to it. Crow, I thought I could wing it!!!

Ok non linear thought processes I can work with that,

let's fly.....

What is a Christian? Someone who follows someone else's construct? Or is it following the heart of shared humanity. Accepting a Savior is just the beginning, what do you do in a post saved environment? I say you listen to the obvious. If the least among us has his eyes staring in your soul than I look back & say,

I see.

The cynicism of this post is a an observation of Africa....

Look at the beauty & frailty of the Masai warriors.
Look at the beauty & frailty of the Animals on the plains....of the Mara.
Look at the beauty & frailty of the human beings living in squaller, the new safari.

Look how we have to go over there to see this suffering.
Look how we condemn & judge in our own house, the U.S. in one of our rooms New Orleans, how they somehow deserve it because they are decadent, they are poor, they are democrat, they are ....pigmented.

Yet nowhere have I heard they are my brother & my brother is my keeper & how I treat Him is how I treat myself.

Lets just go on a safari in the new tour, the Slums....over there.

As a former N.O. resident I have to agree:
I understand there are still women in the 9th ward that haven't had their taxpayer funded boob job yet.
Taxpayer funded big screen TV's are back ordered.
The illegals that are rebuilding the city make WAY too much noise. Hard for the welfare residents to sleep till noon with all that noise.

The good news:
Since 'Chocolate city Nagin,' in violation of the Second Amendment, confiscated firearms from LEGAL OWNERS, the fast growing scum population can now boast the nations highest murder rate.

Yes Crow when Katrina hit I gave, I gave a LOT. Now? Nagin, and his welfare supporters can rot in hell.
