Default Is there a $500 billion hurricane on the horizon?

Like Sand Bars Off of Florida. People but those beach homes up on them and had the Federal Government repay to rebuild them.

Anyways, I say just depopulate the coastal regions. Than say, if you want to live here, you better not expect the tax payers to rebuild, because people are fucking idiots if they think I (among others like me) feel good about paying to maintain vacations homes on the East and Gulf Coasts.

If it's Category 5 the wind does the damage to your home then the flood insurance won't pay for it.
The Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale

"Unlike a standard homeowners policy, flood insurance covers losses to your property caused by flooding.

Some of the things a standard flood policy will cover include:

structural damage
furnace, water heater and air conditioner
flood debris clean up
floor surfaces such as carpeting and tile
You can also buy a flood insurance policy to cover the contents of your home, such as furniture, collectibles, clothing, jewelry and artwork.

Policies are available in three forms: Dwelling (most homes), General Property (apartments and businesses), and Residential Condominium Building Association (condominiums).

It's important to know that if you have a federally backed mortgage on a home located in a high-risk area, federal law requires you to purchase flood insurance. Also, if you've received a federal grant for previous flood losses, you must have a flood insurance policy to qualify for future aid.

Be FloodSmart! Get covered today.
Contact your insurance agent or company, or find an agent serving your area."
