Was glad to read that New Orleans is being tough on the cops who went AWOL in the face of Hurricane Katrina and didn't show up on the job. So far about 60 have been fired and another 25 are on appeal - looks like maybe 200 in the end will face some sort of hearing.

These guys took an oath to serve and protect - they should be prosecuted and not just fired from their jobs. Without a strong police force that we can rely on to defend the innocent in times of crisis, this country will slowly erode into chaos.

Plus, if the cops had all shown up for work as they were supposed to, things would have been a lot easier to control after Katrina. Yes, emergency response wasn't up to the task, but we need to take this as a warning and stop beating up the administration about it. This is a step in the right direction by placing blame where it belongs.
