Fagin was from Dicken's Oliver Twist, and Shylock was from Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice. Both are stereotypical portrayals of the "evil jew", complete with the hook nose and sinister laugh.
Canuck seems to think that they are real people instead of stock characters. |
