Cervical cancer has not been an issue amongst teens in America.

petey; the problem with cervical cancer is that it can lay dormant for years. If a virgin female sleeps with a male that has had multiple partners she could still get cervical cancer if one of his partners had been infected. The "virgin" then wil go on to unknowingly infect other partners. It's a vicious cycle. That's why our family is promoting abstinance.

So where is the epidemic of cervical cancer amongst the young teen female population?

Your comment about cervical cancer was absurd and uneducated. When you learn a little more about HPV and cancer, then we will have this discussion.

We'll have to keep an eye on the safety issues, but our daughter will most likely get vaccinated. Luckily we still have a few years to suss it out.

However, I don't think it should be mandatory, even if it turns out to be overwhelmingly safe. Like it or not, parents still have the right to make many bad decisions for their children's futures.
