This site is a basic overview of medicaid. What do forum members think of this federal and state program? I am curious about the general publics opinion because it is a constant subject of debate/challenge/ frustration among healthcare administrators/ physicians/recipients.

Each state has its own programs yet they must abide by federal laws to recieve federal funds. Should this program be abolished? Is it underfunded?

Sam, everyone deserves healthcare. Is it underfunded, just by reading the HIV/AIDS eligiblity, yes.

Fortunately, we have healthcare, othewise we would be financially broke right now. My 9 year old daughter had an urgent health problem;

1. ER visit(5 hours) $2,000
2. ambulance transfer to a children's hospital (90 miles) $1700
3. Appendectomy, 3 day hospital stay $20,000

$23,700 for an appendectomy.
