She doesn't have children. The Nazi's who took her for sex during WWII made sure that wasn't a possibility. (she was taken from Croatia at the age of 17)

In fact, she has no one, other than myself, the Mexican girl who works at the gas station, and an elderly black woman. We are her family, we provide companionship for her, and attempt to help her. She doesn't make it easy, she is quite angry with life...

The state will get her property when she passes.
Couldn't she get a loan on her property, ( I think it is called a reverse mortgage )? She could use that money for medical care and her needs. At any rate, if the State is her heir, it is the State's obligation to take care of her until she dies or uses up her estate.

Yes, we all are. Depends on the non-worker, are they disabled or unwilling?

If someone inherited wealth, then spends their life as they wish, living off inheritance, do they contribute to the common good more than a drunk living under a bridge? I don't have much respect for either of those lifestyles, but is one better than the other?

It is a reverse mortgage, you are correct. She is unwilling to do that, she doesn't want credit. (It is a pride thing. She bought the house with cash many years ago.) I tried to explain that it really isn't credit in the traditional sense, but to no avail

She really is an incredible woman, it has been education knowing her.

I'd say they contribute somewhat thru usage taxes. However if they don't have any "earned" income the heir will not pay for medicare.

The hobo is just a consumer of resources and doesn't have anything to contribute to your neighbors health care. The heirs do.
