Good point Gix, specifically the medical care that is significantly effected by malpractice costs are obstetrics and neurosurgery. Routine medical care has only slightly higher costs due to insurance.
It is one of those double edge swords where in america we can file a malpractice claim if something goes wrong yet people abuse it and prices skyrocket. It really is low on the list for skyrocketing prices except in the specialties I mentioned. I could go on for hours about mediacal care and rising costs. I will save it for when I return from vacation.
One quick note I did just read that now hospitals and physicians will start posting prices upfront. I think that is a positive change. I think mildly it will have an effect on controlling costs a bit. At least you can compare prices for procedures and hospitals.
