Indians bristle at U.S. criticism on food prices
"If Americans were to slim down to even the middle-class weight in India, "many hungry people in sub-Saharan Africa would find food on their plates," Mehta said. The money Americans spend on liposuction to get rid of their excess fat could be funneled to famine victims instead, he added."

Spot on. Americans need to lose weight, more food sources for the rest of the world, and less money in the pockets of plastic surgeons.

I don't think the weight problem so many Americans experience is caused by how much they eat. Its more about WHAT they eat, and WHEN, and then the fact they get little to NO EXERCISE.

Critics from India seem to be asking one underlying question: "Why do Americans think they deserve to eat more than Indians?"
I'm going to sound like our "I hate America Mascot", but they are right. Americans are gluttons.
I just got back from a Wal-mart run so I'm usually disgusted about now.

I feel so guilty for eating prime rib and fresh fruits year round that I will stop eating these things.
I feel so selfish now. Americans like me are the devil and I slaughter millions of people each year because I'm a glutton.
I should be taxed by the UN and trust them to give my money to foreign countries that do not eat prime rib. America is terrible.
Solution: Nuke India and they will not need food.

Ok, so we're presuming a lot here:
1) We assume that if Americans eat less, farmers will still grow/raise the same amount of food for no reason at all.
2) Either those same farmers will just give away their excess each year, without adjusting their supply to match demand, or;
3) The Government (i.e. the taxpayer - the same people who are trying to SAVE money by eating less) will pay for the excess
4) The excess somehow rightfully belongs to India, since Americans aren't eating it anymore.
How ridiculously selfish, stupid, and naive! That's the same as me telling my neighbor to burn less gas, but keep paying for the same amount, then give the excess to me because I can't afford gas prices.
How old was this "Mehta" kid? Six? Seven?
Hell, even MY six year-olds wouldn't fall for that scam...as soon as I taught them eat less candy, they'd figure out something ELSE to spend their allowance on, but they sure as hell wouldn't keep buying extra candy to give to someone else just because they said so.
I say we turn the blame around...if those damned inconsiderate skeletons over there in India would eat more American junk-food, our profits would go up and we could afford to finance their puffy bellies! Makes just as much non-sense as Mehta makes...

I 'd like like to see India shut the fuck up and eat their cows already.
It's none of the government's business what we eat so what makes India think
I care what they think.Hell we give them foreign student aid ,their own taxicabs ,their own convenience stores, over here so they just need to mind their own goddamn business.
