I haven't had plastic surgery, unless you consider a root canal plastic surgery.

Anyway, a friend of mine had lipo when her kids were 4 and 7, too. We lived in different states, so I never saw her in recovery but she did tell me about. She hid it from her kids. But, they caught her with the bandages on and she had to explain it to them. "We love your body the way it is mommy." She cried when she told me.

Another friend had a boob job. Oh, good Lord. UNFORTUNATELY, I visited her within 3 months after she had it done. She was one of those that had you "feel her up". Why do women do that? Another friend of mine, just lost both of her breasts to breast cancer in the fall of '07. She got reconstructive surgery and new boobs. I get to see her in June '08.

I can understand the need for plastic surgery if you have malformation, accident, burn, ect. But, plastic surgery only makes the outside beautiful, not the inside, you need to love yourself, then you will be happy with your body. That is what we have taught our daughters.

Hmmmm gee when I was a kid the hero was someone that saved the day and people looked up to his unselfish sacrafice to fight evil. Now this guy wants to teach our kids you got to pay for the hero to help you. hmmmm that sounds about right in the politicaly correct era gee things are so much better than when we were kids huh.

I really don't think its healthy to send these messages to our kids.

I personally don't know how I'd handle having plastic surgey when I have kids. part of me wants some work done. I don't think I'd want to make the issue so normal. plastic surgery is about making people look as good on the outside as they feel on the inside. but often times it turns into people trying to fit in with cultural ideals of beauty.

Cultural beauty changes from one season to the next. Why bother?

Well in certain cases I see the need after we have another child my wife is going to have surgery. But she is having a reduction because she is a 40DDD and it is hell on her back when she works out to long. Now with her back injury she wants it even more it's is just a hell of a lot of weight to carry around all day.

I have always wondered how much your "perception" of yourself is actually reflected in your overall look. I know that is rahter vague but I still wonder...

I must one of the few in my town not to have had implants.

Default I could've written that book

Mom talks to daughter: We're all born with things we don't necessarily like about our bodies. We can either accept those things, or we can try to fix those things.

I'm much too shallow to learn to love my body the way it is, or develop inner resources, so I'm going to undergo surgery to get "fixed." Then I'll look much better.

I'll be fixing the nose you inherited from me. I'll also be fixing the thighs you inherited from me. I'll be enlarging the chest you inherited from me.

But, sweetie, you're beautiful just the way you are! At least you are now. But in the future, you, too, can fix all of those hideous defects that are forcing me under the knife.
