While I agree that children should have healthcare, I think adults should get a job. Kids shouldn't suffer because their parents are idiots. I get tired of hearing how expensive everything is. So what. Get a job. I support programs that enable people to help themselves and get a good start so they can become a productive member of society, but I am really tires of the welfare in this country. What are we gonna have next, car buying programs, because they are just to expensive and people can't afford them? Gimmie a break.

Aside from that, I really don't see the point in giving something else to the federal government to fuck up. They screw up everything they touch. Look at what they have done to Medicare, Medicade, children services, education, social security, welfare, just to name a few. These programs have been ways for them to prove they are not incompetent, instead they have proven the opposite. Can anyone name something they haven't fucked up? I think I would like to see all of these issues fixed before we hand over something else.

I think this will be a bad move. Something our children will hate us for. I have great insurance, I pay out the ass for it, but it's good. I can get into see my dr. when I need to. I like the system the way it is.

I must say that I am somewhat of a hippie and believe that some programs are needed. As for healthcare - no way. I don't think that I should have worse healthcare so that someone else can have better. I have better - because I have worked for it.

Well I am not sure why anyone posts to a particular thread but I have health care that I worked for but the truth be told a way should be found to bring down the cost of healthcare so that more can afford it.

The only way is to deregulate and get rid of the Government monopoly on it. Competition will bring the prices down to an affordable level.

People want government support because they don't have the money to buy the drugs themselves, and they don't have the money to buy the drugs themselves because the drugs are fucking expensive.

While a great solution is universal health care, a better solution is government funded research to get better and cheaper drugs available to the public.

They don't have the money themselves because our current monetary and fiscal policies give money to the people who can get it first, the wealthy.

Government funded research is bullshit. If a company can not compete and come up with new treatments they can file for bankruptcy. When Government funded anything becomes the norm they pass the higher costs on to the people who can not afford healthcare who are the same people who can not get free health care from the Government. THe middle Class.

Universal Healthcare will hurt the middle class, period. They won't be allowed to receive it, and the price of health care will rise as Government gets its firm grip of red tape and beauracracy around the industry.

You can say Universal all you like, the truth is not everyone will be covered or allowed the priviledge of these services. Everyone will damn sure be taxed for it.

People talk about the poor so damn much they need to learn who the true backbone of our Nation's economy is. That is people making about 60-100 a year. They buy the cars, rent the apartments, buy the houses, buy T.V.s, and such. Yet they go into bankruptcy when they get to that age and heart problems come, or diabetis or overly expensive Cancer treatments.

This is crap. I'm sick of caring for the poor. Our current economic policies encourage people to be poor. Than all they have to do is walk 4 blocks to the Government welfare office and apply for help. Meanwhile the people who would need it most, the more numerous of America's economic demographic are not entitled to help from the Government at all. Unless you consider a 300 dollar check as gracious tax cuts...

The middle class is shrinking. Sure more people are getting richer but the divide between rich and poor is getting bigger and the middle class is going down. Nations without a middle class are destined for a depression. Till Government gets out of the Healthcare industry and out of the economy we will repeat it over and over.
