Default Va Tech - Handguns - Japan Does Fine Without, Proof Positive!!

I lived in Japan for 5 years and felt very safe walking anywhere at 3 a.m. - Not so in America because of our outdated gun policy and the idiotic second amendment.

Why use Japan as an example? Because it's a thriving democracy (exactly like America). This fact is in gun supporters face big time, guns don't kill people, bullets do!

Because criminals have guns is not enough reason to oppose gun control. We have a great deal of corruption with the NRA and their lobby in DC. Their special interest agenda is corrupt, their "contributions" or "bribes" mold US gun policy for the entire nation yet NRA members represent less than 1 percent of the population !!

You do the math, 1 percent of the population dictating gun policy for the other 99 percent of us? - - Bullshit x 10.

How many guns does Billy Bob need to hang in the rear window of his pickup to compensate for his small dick?

VA Tech is a great example and I'm from Virginia, know many that attended that school.

This isn't about guns. Think about this. If he had built a bomb or two, even more students could have been killed. This should be about mental illness. Guns are simply a symptom.

You fail to consider the morality of the people of Japan....laws do not make people moral....the morals of the people make the laws...kind of like putting the horse in front of the cart....the people of Japan are a very moral type of people in dealing with others within their own society. And the fact remains...that of the 2nd amendment...it still exsists and will continue to do so...unless a .75% majority of the States(people) want it to change.

The problem here is not laws...we have enough on the books already...perhaps if some of them would have been considered....like those dealing with the issue of mental illness....why have more...criminals have no morals...they exsist outside or above the people that do make the laws. You can not legislate morality....it is up to the people that live under these laws to make them work...not the other way round or vise versa. BD

I have to admit, this is one issue I'm not dead certain about. I don't like to see numbskulls killing people with guns, but me and a whole bunch of other folks are AFRAID of our own government. Guns keep 'em a little bit honest.

"laws do not make people moral....the morals of the people make the laws" -bluedog

and

"If he had built a bomb or two, even more students could have been killed." -freedomlover

Both are on to something here. What, get rid of plant fertilizer and knives? One will kill many if they really want to. And the way to stop that is to live in a moral culture, but it cannot be legislated or forced.

When governments over-regulate, they convince the people that if it is legal, it must be good. We need to have a cultural revolution that is not forced, but desired and taught based on knowing what is right and wrong in the mind of the individual because there must be some common respect that I rarely witness, not just in the over-abundance of laws that many break anyway. Just thinking out loud.

And Japan has what kind of illegal alien problem? THEY DON'T!
And Japan has what kind of drug problem? THEY DON'T!
And Japan has how many minorities? NONE!

Take away the above three and we have NO firearms problem. Then again take away the above three and who would vote for the Dems?

When 25% of the population represents 63% of the incarceration rate you really don't need Mr. Wizzard to see where the problem lies.

Japanese people are raised to value honor. To bring dishonor to ones family is a fate worse than death. Do what feels good is not honorable. Family values, pride in self gained through hard work, acheivement these are strong influences in most asian cultures. Here we have children reporting their parents for looking through their drawers. We have everything handed to us. There is no achievement because everyone gets a trophy. Who made it this way?

Different cultures.

BTW, nearly 50% of the population owns guns, and of those that do not, do you honestly believe that they all think they should be banned? Or is it possible that maybe some of them are all for having the choice?
