You are right that you aren't in Texas.....I am talking about smller towns.....Everybody in Texas does not live in Houston ,Dallas, Ft Worth, San Antonio,Ft Worth....Some of us are in relativley rural communities....not what some would think of as Big City. and guess what? I have lived in Big cities and even abraod (out side US borders)....And I still would want to have laws that allow me to protect my home front (house and work place).......

Prisoner 1 maybe
his quote
Quote:
If the President is any indication of how violent Texans are, then texans probably need guns and laws that allow them to shoot each other. Let's face it, a dead Texan is a good texan! By the way, where does Texas rank in terms of violent crimes? Real statistics, not texan doctored stats. Does all this killing stop violent crime? As long as they stay in texan and kill each other, I could care less. The problem is when they get in the Whitehouse and start killing everyone else.

First you knock Texans for being violent, as though you have a clue, and then say that a dead Texan is a good Texan.....So, in other words, you only advocate killing people who don't agree with you. Typical of the "tolerant" left who, in reality, tolerate nothing except their own ideologies. My family has lived in Texas for generations, all are pro-gun, and NONE has ever killed anyone or even shot at anyone with the exception of my maternal grandfather who was originally from Chicago. And he killed those men in self defense. They were going to hang him and rape my grandmother and he wrested a gun from one of them and opened fire.

Since the passage of the conceal carry law, violent crime in the major cities of Texas did go down, but then the mayor of Sanctuary City, Houston, generously opened the city to Katrina evacuees....some good and some just the trash of New Orleans that NOLA doesn't want back. Since then, the murder rate has skyrocketed as has every other type of crime. Shoplifting, for example, in the areas with the greatest concentration of them has increased 237%. And every time the feds threaten to cut off their free rent, they publicly announce that if that happens they will retaliate and take whatever they need from the citizens of Houston by knocking heads and stealing. Murder, theft, armed robbery, carjacking, rape, abductions, chaos and mayhem are rampant in Houston and over one third of those actually in jail for those crimes are illegals while a large percentage of the other 2/3 are Katricians (as they now wish to be called). So your assessment of Texans killing Texans is particularly off base and ill informed.

Part of the reason for the plight of Houston is also the fact that HPD is woefully undermanned. In the last several years over 2,000 HPD officers have retired. And they cannot interest young people in becoming police officers and so cannot fill the academy with new recruits. The passage of this new law enables the citizens to defend themselves in the absence of law enforcement.

And, btw, George W. Bush wasn't born in Texas, but he did grow up here and that makes him a Texan. There's a popular bumper sticker here which states, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could."

"When they get into the White House and start killing everyone else....?" And, the president did this all by himself you think? Ever heard of Congress?

Somebody, anybody, give this man an Amen! And, as always they leave out the part about the 5000 US citizens that were murdered...before we unholstered our gun...BD

I really believe all americans should be armed and anytime you don't like something, you just shoot the person. I truly believe anarchy is the way of the future. In fact, capitalism has often been called controlled anarchy. Why not have a total state of everyone for themselves?

As Ghandi said, if everyone lived by an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, everyone would be walking around blind and toothless. And by the way "Christians" are famous for saying that quote is in the Bible - and it is, but it is NOT what Christ taught.

It's not that ONLY TEXANS talk about guns...It's just that it seems alot of people (who have no clue) want to pass judgement... Many Texans follow the idea that one can't wait for the government to make the world a better (or even hospitable place) so where are YOU that things are so much better? No violence or crime there, in your neck of the woods? I'll move in and leave guns behind if all's safe on your block..
