OK...so you (or anyone) are a big person on the 2nd Amendment...2nd Amendment or die, NRA, blah, blah, blah...

OK, no restrictions at all, have all the damn weapons you want...that is unrestricted, pure interpretation of the 2nd Amendment...beautiful!

So then I should be able to have rocket launchers or chemical weapons at my house...a nuclear warhead or two. That is MY RIGHT under the second amendment in its purest form. That is what they wrote down isn't it? Legally this is it, I know I am right when you put it this way; and many on this board whine constantly, incessantly about this but cannot argue your way out of a wet paper bag when I have argued this at a completely unrestricted level. All of you that are pro-gun and far to the right have no idea what you are talking about when you think that the 2nd amendment has some sort of literal, purest form. The literal sense of this DOES mean ANY weapon of your choice. Go back to the days of flint lock rifles and cannons when the Constitution was written; you must be living in the past all you super-duper constructionists.

Now, let us all snap out of la la land a minute.

Why is the U.S. not this way and why cannot I have the things I outlined (and have asked/argued this OVER AND OVER)?

Not one person who sits on the right can argue this in a clear fashion.

They are quite frankly way too afraid of the conclusion. Now come to the conclusion and admit it to me.

The earliest memories I have of my life are from about the age of three. Just snippets of this or that. But I do remember that I had already fired a gun by then. Both my daughters sat on my lap at age two while I helped them hold a small .22 Ruger and helped them squeeze the trigger. They had fired thousands of rounds by the time they got into kindergarden.

While I did keep most of my guns in a safe, I did keep a couple accessible for home defense. Because they had always handled guns, had no memory of ever not having a gun in thier hands, my daughters were never curious or had any desire handle a weapon inappropriately.

Keeping weapons away from kids is what breeds disaster. Familiarity with firearms is the best prevention.

First, you missed the argument again. This is not about the limits I do or do not want. I have brought up (over and over...I REPEAT) the non-limits that a very right, weapon advocate (such as yourself) always want to argue for; I have asked you and others to defend this. Basically you have avoided that point and argument because you are too damn afraid of the conclusion it leads to. I suggest you refer to the sig I have at the bottom...and that is not the YB one.

Second, the idea of the 2nd amendment is something I support, I have said nothing to the contrary. Have I said to do away with the 2nd amendment? No. You might imagine, or be fabricating my conclusion on this and that I am even a liberal (actually much more moderate than you think) but you can't be more off base. I have actually had far, far more cogent discussions with Gix and Kix in the past and they (in many ways) even sit to the right of you.

Third, the only way I have been able to snap you back into some semblence of reality ina discussion is when you get 'insulted' directly. You act like some goofy guru type as some avoidance tactic, it actually remeinds me of hippies who are actually on the left (and that I detest).

Lastly, the thread itself. Living here in the South I know a great deal of 'liberals' that own guns, my mom grew up on a farm down here and learned how to shoot deer and can still do it at almost 80 years old. She is a liberal and a die hard FDR Democrat. I have a great deal of respect (and solid working knowledge) of weaponary and qualified as 'sharpshooter' in the Army. I can handle myself just fine with a rifle and probably can out gun you on a rifle range even with three beers in me and one arm tied behind my back.
