There are several interesting articles in this months NRA's "America's First Freedom" concerning the founding fathers and the 2nd amendment. They specifically stated the 2nd Amendment was not about hunting, it was about self defense and the inalienable right to life. I think the argument that the 2nd amendment should only apply to weapons that were available when it was written is wrong. The intent was that American citizens would be able to defend themselves with the best means available, that is not currently single shot muzzle loaders
