Several men tried to break into my grandparents home in 1978, small town in Michigan. My Grandpa was about 5'8, around 160 lbs. He heard them at the back sliding door and greeted them with his hunting rifle. He cocked it, didn't say a word, and they left. There were no security alarms, there was no 911, nor neighborhood watches, and he knew his terrority. That hunting rifle kept a 62 year man and wife alive in their own home that 3 men were trying to break into. Their own home.
My mom was a single parent and always had a gun in the dresser. Yes, I knew where it was and knew how to shoot it. In Michigan, hunting lessons were mandatory in the 7th grade. Again, no security alarm, no 911, no neighborhood watches.
Now that I am married with children, we've never owned a gun or had one in the house. However, we do have a security system, 911, neighborhood watches. Why don't we own a personnel gun? I don't know?

I would allow one in the house as long as it was under lock and key.
I grew up around guns. My grandparents owned a hunting store. I am pro-gun.
