Just bought a Marlin 22 from Walmart, It was made in the United States. I have five guns, a Tarus 38, made in Brazil, a Bersa 380 made in some eastern block country, a Smith and Wesson twelve gauge made in China, and its a piece of crap, the finish is first grade (not first class), the Marlin 22 made in the US and another Marlin 32/40 about 120 years old made in the United States.

The only gun that is junk is the Chinese gun.

It doesn't shoot that bad but the finish is . The bluing came off the barrel when I put it in my car. The stock is basically unfinished wood although it wasnt supposed to be. The only thing going for it is it was cheap and it makes a lot of noice when I chamber a round. Since I got it for home defense rather than hunting that serves my purpose very well

My choice for home defense .... a Remington 1187 autoloader 12 ga. modified for combat .... short barrel ..... 1 in the chamber 8 in the tube .... 1st one out...00 buck ... then a slug .... 00 buck ...slug ....etc.
