Default Ever Heard of Incorporation

Does anyone realize the legal ramifications of the second amendment never being incorporated? Does anyone know what that means?

Yes. It means States have the power to regulate arms, but the Federal Government doesn't.

So what? Those States that tried to ban guns entirely would find an exodus of gun owners on their hands...or a revolution, if we're lucky.

As long as people WANT guns, at least ONE state will be smart enough to capitalize on it, and so there will always be refuge within the US for gun-owners. Not a big deal, considering...they've had over 200 years to ban them entirely, and haven't done so yet.

D.C. has NEVER enjoyed protection of the 2nd Amendment, or any other amendment for that matter. So, banning guns isn't taking away any of their rights.

As for the lack of an exodus...you're right. The opposite seems to have happened, which is fine. It shows how effective a gun ban could be - it'd likely result in more guns owned by criminals instead of law-abiding citizens.

Ironically, in place where guns are restricted or banned, and the crime rate goes up, know what they use to try to reduce crime? Yep. More Officers with guns. Those kooky bureaucrats...it almost seems like they're creating crime in order to justify a stronger police presence. But that would be tyrrany, so it can't be true in America. Heh.

On the plus side...like I said, any State at any time could have snatched away gun rights, but so far all they've done is whittle away at them slowly. It's still not too late to remind them how scary an armed populace can be to corrupt politicians, but just barely.

Most States have in their constitutions provisions that protect individual ownership of firearms. With provisions to detail what is regulated, prohibited etc...

What is your point? The Right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed...

Meaning, reasonable restrictions such as Rocket Launchers etc, but firearms in general are a protected right.
