OK, Yellowjacket.

Still, the conversation is moot.

If you were a cop all those years, you know why.

Actually, not a cop, a corrections officer. Handled firearms on perimeter duty, as well as transporting inmates.

your right almost, but why should someone be able to buy ak's tech's and fully automatic weapons, why should a known danger to himself be allowed to own a gun, why should a criminal who has killed be allowed to own a gun, or is infringement to criminals and known danger ,who have or have the ability to kill someone with the gun, rights. go tell that to the VT, NIU and columbine's parents whos children died

We also need to make it harder to get guns. I think there needs to be more laws limiting guns to people who have mental problems even people who were given depression pill from their doctor. We as a people need to make sure that another VT or NIU never happen again.

Thoughts or Ideas?
You make a good case for people control.

If he was a threat why was he walking free? If you do some research you will find most the gun violence is committed by people who are convicted felons and cannot legal own a gun. Therefore, the law did not stop them from getting a gun illegally. Again that begs the question, why are this people walking free.

There are two other ways to stop future violence with guns at schools. First reporters could stop making the murders infamous so the next person knows he will not become infamous if he does the same thing. Second, students could have their Second Amendment rights restored to them so they can protect themselves.

Are there any lawsuits filed against VT for the school stripping the students their Civil Rights?

Fully automatic weapons require a special permit to legally own, and to the best of my knowledge, no legally owned one has been reported as used in a crime. Semiautomatics, regardless of brand, are no different than any other firearm and our right to own one is protected by our 2nd amendment.

A person adjudicated mentally incompetent or a convicted felon is not legally permitted to possess a firearm. This is a crime called "possession of a firearm under disability". In some rare cases, depending on the crime, a judge may restore a criminals right to possess a firearm if said criminal petitions the court. Please note the "infringement" takes place by an action of the courts for just cause.

Question: If the mentioned murderers had filled a duffel bag with bottles of gasoline and killed their victims by fire-bombing them, would you demand a permit to fill up your car and a waiting period or 1 tank a month limit? Blame the criminal for the crime, not his choice of tool.

Criminals and Cripples have either forfeited the Responsibilities of there rights, or they have neither the physical or mental abilities to excercise those rights. With every right comes a responsability. The same reason we do not allow Children to vote, or issue 5 year olds conceal to carry permits.

Also, for the very same reason we deny violent felons the right to keep and bear arms. Becasue they forfeited that right when they failed in there responsibilities.

I'll agree about criminals and even mental deficients. However, a paraplegic, confined to a wheelchair, can still handle a handgun for self defense. Thus your statement about "cripples" is questionable depending on the severity of the handicap.

Well, your being very vague. Imagine someone with Palsey trying to operate a firearm. That is the idea.

No need to reach for criticisms just to criticise.

If a gun owner who owned a gun for 50 years became developed palsey shoud the government send the FBI in to get confiscate the guns? At what age does a senior citizen stop having Constitutional rights?

Criminals and mentally ill people are both banned from owning guns. Not that the criminals let that stop them from getting guns. The laws abridging the Second Amendment are more than stringent enough.

My grandpa was a trick shooter in his youth. As got older he became palseyed. He did not get out and shoot. But as the area he lived in became overran with violent illegal immigrants he did start leaving a gun loaded and ready to shoot. He bought my grandma a pistol to for protection. But even she shook. Both of them lived to be near 90, at what age should the guns have been seized even though they never committed any crimes?

1st it seems like you havent hear much about some inner city crimes because i know even in my city there have been crimes commited with fully automatic weapons, police catch stashes of weapon, etc. also you remember bout 10 years back in cali the bank robbery with two men with ak 47 and body armor? 2nd gasoline was to power a engine, NOT to KILL, a gun was MADE to KILL. Im not saying that law abiding citizens that have permit etc should not be allowed to be armed, but if i knew that a student at the college i go to had a gun on him (legally), that wouldnt make me feel all that safe.
