Ah, but being politicians, SOMEONE will respond to an obvious ground surge of opinion in order to get elected. You are very naive that would hurt their own bank account and no politician would do that. Besides elections are all fixed. If enough people express a desire for this amendment, it WILL be put on the agenda. It should not and it will not If not by current legislators, then by whoever replaces them. You mean the next puppet who doesn't give a fuck

> Its the responsibility of the voter to elect the qualified people. If they fail to take note of the candidates, THEY GET WHAT THEY DESERVE.

On that, we agree entirely. The problem is the OTHER citizens who voted against said unqualified candidates. None of the candidates are qualifed They get what they do NOT deserve. As things stand in the current election, it seems given that a president will be elected despite his / her anti-constitutional position. What did _I_ do to deserve such poor leadership? Nothing u were just naive, I hope u gotta gun

> If you are going to limit candidacy to those passing a test, lets just do away with the voting. We'll test everyone, interested in serving in the government, then appoint them to specific offices based on the results of that test. The one with the highest score becomes president, next highest VP, etc.

I'm disapointed. You strike me as smarter than that. I did not propose limiting candidacy to those passing a test. I proposed educating successful candidates before turning over the reins of government to them. Like I said

Molly
they are educated they just don't give a shit why do u refuse to see that

Talking constitutional amendment

I myself am against too many constitutional admendments...eventually it will become like all of our laws...cumbersome, filled with legalese...and undecipherable by the common person...

The constitution is not a law giving device but merely a yardstick for determining the constitutionality of laws that are made by Congress...

What is the purpose here?

After all, I believe all elected officials take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution...

The fact,... if it is a fact,... that they don't understand it...is no excuse...

I believe is is a given fact that ignorance of the law is no excuse...

Perhaps we just need a law that lets any group or individual that can prove the official violated that oath..to bring suit for a recall...

Just making them knowledgable is a poor usage of the amendment system...and without the possibility of responsibility for their not living up to their oath whether they understand it or not...this idea falls flat...and is useless...

I assure you...given a law like this...they will very quickly do as you wish and learn it by heart...

As long as the voters place more emphasis on what a politician promises to give them than on a politician governing constitutionally, we'll keep getting the same crooks in office. A politicians past voting record is public information, but most people are too lazy to look it up, too ignorant to understand it, and too apathetic to care about "trivial things" like the Constitution.
