A little kid out hunting at 5 years old with DADDY IS STILL HUNTING!
I have seen five, six, seven year old kids fire a 22 rifle, a 20 gauge shotgun....at 7 years old, I was already firing a 12 gauge shotgun under supervision! I had to do chores to earn the shells, and started shooting at tin cans.
No one....I mean no one....lets a 10 year old run around alone with a firearm. They take him hunting with Dad and Uncles and the like, and he does hunt, and maybe carries a shotgun or small bore rifle. There is a common sense issue here.
When I was that age, sometimes I was set in a blind near my Uncle, who was in another blind, and I was given two shells.
When I was in the first grade, me and my cousins were dressed in orange vests, and we were driving deer from one fire trail to another so that others in the family could harvest them. Sometimes we switched places.
When I was 12, I was allowed to hunt alone....and have ever since, up until the time a few years ago when I all but stopped hunting for lack of free time away from employment.
My situation is very typical of the hunting family.
