I got my first 22 at about 7 and 12ga. at 9 was hunting on my own and with young cousins at that age. I know a lot of people that start there kids out like when I was growing up bb guns ect. on up. Kids are doing this on private land already so not such a big deal. I have a nephew that passed the safety course on his own at 10 1/2 years old. If a parent is with them I don't see the problem, there are those that should not as adults but not allowing 10 year olds with adult supervision not to is not going to stop those idiots. To me it is good to see that not all of the country has bought into the anit gun scare and are still teaching there kids starting at very young ages. More times than not kids that grow up with it and are taught the right way especialy safety they end up more responsable gun owners. Safety is second nature

Most people who hunt own property, a 5 year old is allowed to hunt on private property. Not sure this is a big change in hunting policy as people rabble on about.

I asked a friend of mine about this & she says her son was eligible at age 10 for deer hunting & had to meet certain requirements.

I did. This still is not a big change in Hunter's Rights or Policy. Or even much of a change.

My fathers' side of the family owns 60 acres in Kansas. My parents got divorced when I was young, and my old man moved back there. I coulden't tell you how young I was the first time I went hunting with my father, but he made me use a pellet gun for years untill I was about 10. By the time I was able to handle a shot gun, I was already very saftey minded. My little brother on the other hand... just dosen't seem to get it. He's not allowed to go hunting with us anymore. The last time he went, he almost blew his leg off.

Exactly. I was in third grade when I started carrying a single shot .22. . . under parental supervision of course. I think this last point is very important.

I'm not sure if this should be done off of own property , however.

Allowing this builds revenue for the parks and wildlife fund There is nothing wrong with this. You can take your kids hunting whenever you want.

I was hunting at six years old. I could cook my own meals on a stove by the time I was in second grade. Growing up quickly is a jump start situation on life in general.

Blasphemy! I live in Kansas and find more than enough. It's just not for everyone.
