Democrat Liberals back then told us that by the year 1985, or by the year 2000 at the latest that the smog on this planet would be so bad that the air would be unbreathable.....
That we would all need gas masks to breath!!!!
They pulled out their charts....

Showed all of their scientific data.....

Called it a fact!!!!

Well here we all are.... 2008 and the sky is blue just like it was back then and the air is fine.....

Well since that did not happen they needed their new and improved scare tactic......

All HEIL GLOBAL WARMING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Al Gore and crew run all over the place....

showing their charts

showing their scientific data....

and they wonder why people like me who can remember this same crap from about 30 years ago are not convinced.....

Let me tell you somethinmg that they lie to those uneducated on the sybject about on almost a daily basis....

The Polar caps are MELTING!!!!!!!!!

Yup sure are.... what they forget to mention is that they have always melted, and that just like in the past others are forming behind the ones melting.....

Ya ever notice all they show is the ice breaking and falling into the water?

They never tell ya about how the ice is reforming in the back.....

Then they say the oceans are riseing!!!!!!!!!

Yup sure are...... they always do.....

then they have the sun beat down on them and guess what they have a tendency to get lower!!!!

So folks before ya let these same people pull the wool over your eyes keep in mind the things they said in the past, with their charts and scientific data,

that turned out to be BS.

Hey kid!...LOL You are old enough to remember the DDT scare and the coming of the "new Ice Age". The same BS that is being touted today as "Global Warming" and then changed to "Climate Change" is following the exact same tactics as were used to ban DDT. As we all know now, DDT was not harmful and did not cause bird eggs to be thin-shelled or anything else they purposely misreported...and it cost millions of Africans their lives due to malaria at a time when we almost had eradicated the disease off the face of the earth. The culprit for that cluster-*uck was a book called "Silent Spring" from an over zealous environmental activist named Rachel Carson. She and her accomplices went around making false presentation just like Al Gore has done and she and her "scientists" would never debate the issue--again like Gore. They also were able to convince the media and when anyone spoke against them, the ad hominem attacks piled in. Is this sounding familar?...LOL... My point is that you are right, but don't leave this fight up to the young ones... there is nothing like experience and the feelings you have of being duped in to stupid policies that did nothing but harm...to our economy and people, so don't give up. Let the young ones know what happened before--they sure won't get this in any history or science class!

I always enjoyed the fact anytime you get 3 tree in close proximitey it's dubbed a *Rain Forrest* and must be protected!

Has everyone revisited the 1970's time magazine report where scientists created a huge project to add soil/dirt on top of all those glaciers so they would absorb sunlight and melt faster? Yep, true enough. They said the planet was too cold and needed to be warmer and ocean levels needed to rise back to the levels of year 1500A.D. when Greenland and Iceland had huge farming communities and ports for trade.... Now, they have way too damn much ice!

Nuclear winter would be from nuclear explosions in a nuclear war, not from nuclear power....

In 1970, Republican President Nixon signed the Clean Air Act, and created by executive order the EPA, and within a decade significant progess was made in reducing the amount of smog creating pollution emitted in the US. And air quality has continued to be monitored for ozone producing chemicals, for ozone levels, and action continues to be taken to eliminate the sources of emissions that produce the smog producing ozone.

Still, if you go to places where almost no motor vehicles are allowed, places where few stationary sources of emissions are allowed, like the Grand Canyon, smog is not uncommon as a result of pollution from man-made sources hundreds of miles away. And that is something that is more common today than it was in the 1960s.

(In the 60s, the environmental fight was to prevent turning the Grand Canyon into another reservoir that would further damage the natural wonders of these United States.)

But I imagine you tell your dentist after he notes the cavities, gum disease, and other problems: "you keep telling me that if I don't start brushing and flossing I will lose all my teeth, but I haven't lost any teeth since I started brushing and flossing so you were lying when you told me that I would lose my teeth."
If you ask someone that didn't start brushing the dentist wouldn't be lying.
Good post!

Ah, the old myth that banning DDT would cause disaster to crop production and plagues of disease to humans.

The fact is DDT's inventor and all its licensees were happy to see DDT banned for general use because all the patents had expired and competitors had driven them from that market, and DDT wasn't actually effective unless you applied so much that you suffocated the pests in a thin layer of DDT. And they all had new products protected by patents already on the market that were far better than DDT.

With DDT banned for general use in most of the world, with DDT being so ineffective that tons needed to be used making it as expensive as alternatives, and with the approved uses, such as targeting malaria and dengue fever, the market was so small, only one factory can product more than the entire world can use.

As it turns out, bed nets treated with permethrin is more effective than DDT, and far easier to implement, and doesn't make living quarters dusty with a yellow powder, so in the end is far more cost effective than DDT.

And as DDT in the environment has declined, the top predator and scavenger birds have recovered significantly even as their habitate has been dramatically reduced.

If we take DDT as an analogy for carbon emission, the cost of dealing with cutting carbon emissions and moving to sustainability will be exaggerated by the opponents who have no stake in the game but just hate all change, while industry will by and large enthusiastically support "bans on carbon" just as they did "bans on DDT", and people will find zero carbon housing and lifestyle to be more cost effective as well, and will ignore lower oil prices once shifts are well underway because using no oil is cheaper than cheaper oil.

ROTFLOL....What a load of tripe!

Show me your proof on ANY of this. Sorry, but the baffling with bullshit doesn't work with me.

Getting back to facts... DDT was banned without the rigors of scientific scrutiny just like what is happening with this Global Warming/ Climate Change hoax.

The consequences for the ban is responsible for the deaths of millions of the third world poor due to malaria. And just like those consequences, AGW/CC hoax has already begun to ruin the economy and cause the poorer nations to go without some of their staple foods... and this is just the beginning.

And if you believe in this hoax, fine, but leave me and mine alone and go live your freakish life as you see fit.
