Temperatures since 1998 have steadily risen and have not even been disputed by any major scientific body including skeptics. You happen to like that live leak and the way Glenn reported it, but the fact remains temperatures have risen, arctic ice continues to melt and even skeptics know this. The skeptics would laugh at Glenn Beck because their argument is that CO 2 is not the primary cause yet even they can read graphs and do not dispute the rise in temps and Beck is actually trying to say something even the skeptics would not try to get away with .You can copy and paste anything you want ,but until you can find a consensus with peer reviewed scientific studies it means nothing. Glenn Beck was not even astute enough to realize that NASA has records of global temps documented and just because one article by the BBC which was taken out of context he chose to run with it and not present documented and verified data.

Steve, do you really believe Glenn Beck over NASA, global data records of temperatures and even skeptics who acknowledge temps have risen. Glenn looked like an idiot on that live leak piece, even to a skeptic. Look I am not trying to convince you to believe the science of climate change by the IPCC, NASA or anyone else. You are locked into your beliefs and so be it, but you cannot take documented temps from leading bodies of science and accepted by both those who are believers and skeptics of human induced causes of climate change and suddenly change the recorded data just because Glenn Beck takes an article out of context. A responsible journalist might not have an opinion ,but actually research reputable graphs of the global temps and try to find if they have indeed risen or dropped instead of his lame presentation.A miniscule amount of research on yearly temps would have helped him out.
The issue isn't whether I believe Glenn Beck over NASA. As I mentioned I don't have bone to pick with Beck but I also don't listen to him regularly. And as for NASA, I'm not sure which representative you are talking about. However, there is a large group of meterologists, scientists and even activists who strongly question the whole hysteria of "Global Warming". As I had mentioned in another post, it has gotten to the stage where it is now a billion $$ investment for the hysteria to continue. Al Gore has admitted this himself as he has invested large amounts of money. It's a cottage industry. While I believe that the earth goes through cycles, I am not of the belief of someone like Ted Turner who predicted that in 20 years we are all going to be cannibals and such.

Out of pure curiosity I went over to Beck's website and found this just to add to our discussion. I don't know if it's all correct but this seems to be a sample of all the thins that "Global Warming People" are saying.

Okay you have a "beef' with Al Gore so you are going to write off NASA and thousands of climate scientists. I have a "beef" with the politics of invading Iraq. I am not so foolish to hold my "beef" so emotionally that I would then say all military action is militarbloney and terrorbaloney. That would be so simple minded.

Pocketbooks were padded by the billions in Iraq. If that is your logic with no further examination of a topic then are you calling it Iraqbaloney and demanding all funding be pulled?

Actually, most including Al gore are rational and not trying to instill fear. They are simply promoting small changes so that we preserve our planet. I listened to his lecture. He did not fear monger-he suggested Americans make small changes in their lifestyle and become aware. What did you think of the NASA and hundreds of IPCC science reports?

Let's be consistent in your logic- if anyone involved with solving any problem rips us off or over states the problem - we can the decide the problem is completely baloney and close our eyes and cover our ears and not fund any studies, solutions or consider any other reports, intelligence or data. With that logic we can disband the military, all federal healthcare regulations, all environmental regulations regarding drinking water etc. All of those industries have had someone involved who did something to rip us off or pad their pocketbooks.

I am just trying to apply your thinking and logic to world problems.
Sam; I grew up with the fear of Dow Chemical. That they were polluting our air, our waters, that we would be the first to be hit with a nuclear attack. Remember the movie 1980's movie "The Day After"? I know corporations and people can be bought off.

Steve you are getting absurd with the volumes of copy and pastes. You and I are both adults having a discussion and I am not claiming global warming has caused every problem known to man so no need to go off like that. Citizens that care about the environment are just like any other group of people-there is a spectrum from practical and logical people working on solutions to problems to radicals. That is true with almost any group of people including the military, healthcare workers, religious people and so on.

I addressed your post about Beck because you admired his live leak clip which was on a specific topic and I addressed it.In fact, i think the live leak clip made him look brainwashed that he could deny NASA graphs with no scientific information or evidence. On it he claimed the earth has not warmed since 1998 and complained about an email where a person took exception to a BBC headline. Do you agree with the live leak video of Beck that you were enthused about? Would you like to have a scientific discussion about the earth and if it has warmed or cooled since 1998. That was what the video was about that you linked and it was disputed by NASA.

I thought it was a discussion as to the validity of Global Warming. The point in that ridiculous paste (which it certainly was) was to illustrate just how out of control damaging the who "cause" has become. But it wasn't me "going off" or anything of the kind.

In terms of the Beck video, I had put it on to show that there is no room for debate with "the elite" and how those series of e-mails from reporter to activist were clearly meant to intimidate and stifle. That is as clear as day and at the very least hopefully you and I can come to an understanding that this "debate" in the public square has been anything but. I find that those on the "far-left" which you don't (thankfully) seem to be aren't interested in honest discussion. You seem to be and that's great.

Okay, I really am sorry you were exposed to carcinogen polluted water. Why do you believe all environmentalists use politics of fear and are evil? You should consider each issue on a case by case basis and not broad brush important topics. There is a spectrum of people who care for the environment just like there is a spectrum of people in the military. Billions were bilked from Iraq and fear mongering was used and yet some admirable people have accomplished some good things in Iraq. Would you broad brush Iraq and those involved as all Iraqbaloney because the politics of fear was used and pocketbooks were padded with billions of tax payer dollars? I would not. Do you see my point- you are broad brushing complex issues to assume all those who care and support the environment are using politics of fear. You benefit immensely from the work of environmentalists everyday and your daughters will also.

Life should be balanced and just as economics are important and defense so is human health which is directly impacted by air, water and soil supplies. As much as half of all cancers are caused by environmental conditions and the balance of environmentalists who often simply care and make little money offsets unbridled corporations. Some people would not do what was right without environmental standards and laws. The impact might not occur for years. Would you want a company to be allowed to dump carcinogens in your daughters drinking water? The work of environmentalists have stopped this and yet you broadbrush their efforts by just looking at the radicals.

Should I judge the military only by the rapists or murderers or the ones that stole billions? I prefer to see the entire picture and not just frame groups by the radicals or extremists. It is dishonesty at its worst because often there are very sincere people working in various ways to protect you and they are not paid much. That goes for both the military and the environmentalists.

I am so analytical I actually listened to him on the live leak and considered his point. The problem was his point was not even valid by a skeptics standards. Most skeptics do not dispute that the earth is warming-they dispute the cause. Beck was actually disputing warming since 1998 and if he had read the article he referred to he would have seen the absurdity of his point. He is not a very good journalist. In fact, he is so bad (and Steve, I know you were not promoting him) I am suspicious Headline News has him on to make conservatives look stupid. I could be wrong on this.

As evidence for my childhood, I know all the dangers of chemical and pollutants. I've been aware of the enviroment since the day I was born. It's not a new phenomenon. Dow chemical and other corporations have quietly cleaned up over the years. I am an enviromentalist, Sam. However, many people are jumping on the band wagon when they haven't a clue. They are being spoon fed by the media, by Al Gore. I'm sorry, but you really haven't walked in my shoes to tell me I don't know anything about the enviroment.
