You say you do not believe I was asked to sign this petition. My husband and I are both licensed and practice healthcare in Oregon and this letter came to each of us professionally. It was bulk mailed to tens of thousands of what they decided were scientists-which were really just anyone with science backgrounds.

I do not need to make up anything about myself-my point was the massive bulk mailing and lack of credibility of the Oregon Petition and sadly it was one of the primary documents used to refute global warming by the Bush administration. It was promoted as being signed by thousands of scientists. A science teacher, physician, weatherman, dentist or college professor that knew nothing of climate science could sign this and I still have the letter requesting my support and signature. Really this was a scandal missed by the national media.

This should have been covered in the media-how they came up with thousands of signatures and the ordinary citizens they bulk mailed to make their case against the worlds leading climate scientists.

You really do not know much about physics at all. Dark colors absorb light. Light colors reflect light. The ocean is 'dark' the more 'dark' water the more sunlight is absorbed. The Atmosphere is relatively transparent. So light goes THROUGH the air.

IF & ONLY IF there were more clouds than clear air it would cause global cooling because the 'white' clouds would REFLECT the light. There is more clear air than clouds.

When there was more ice on the poles & specifically the North pole the WHITE ice reflected the sunlight through the TRANSPARENT air but as the Ice has & continues to recede it creates a cumulative effect of ABSORPTION as there is more DARK water it ABSORBS more light causing the water to warm further eroding the WHITE REFLECTIVE ice.

Ok its bedtime. Someone answer this question. If man made global warming is fact and is provable. Why not showcase it in a debate on national tv. Facts don't lie. I would be absolutely sold if it were properly argued against an opposing view.

Crown- Oh my God. Are you saying that the Earths surface reflects most of the suns energy? We're not talking about light, we're talking radiation and heat. Light does not cause warming, radiation and heat cause warming.

Light is a spectrum from gamma rays to AM. The sun emits ALL of them Equally. Heat or infrared is but only one part of that spectrum

Touche' Crow and clear explanation. Ice-covered surfaces reflect more solar energy than ice-free surfaces. Increased ocean temps reduces global snow and ice cover, therefore, warming will be enhanced because more solar energy will be absorbed.
