Could, might, maybe.

The only thing for sure, with a government program is:

It will cost two to three times the announced amount.
It will have three time as many employees as really required.
The paper work will wipe out another 10 acres of rain forest, somewhere.
Once established, it will double in size every 8 years.

Hehehehe!! I work within the federal government. Trust me, it would very ugly....

But hey, if you love a bureaucratic mess, with plenty of paperwork, the federal government is the thing for you....

No doubt. And this could also relate to gun control as well. Have we really arrived at the point where we can reasonably trust our present government to do what is right??

It has been demonstrated that when there is open competition, consumers benefit. Why should it be any different for the energy industry? In almost every state privately owned corporations enjoy a government granted monopoly, you as a consumer cannot choose your energy provider the same way you can choose your telephone service provider. In a deregulated market consumers can choose a utility provider that provides 100% renewable energy instead of the federal mandated 1%.

Why should private corporations enjoy a government-granted monopoly? Enron benefited more from it’s monopoly power than deregulation that’s why they supported the Kyoto Treaty.
