Sheehan Considering Run Vs. House Speaker Pelosi
(AP) CRAWFORD, Texas Six weeks after announcing her departure from the peace movement, Cindy Sheehan said Sunday that she plans to run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unless she introduces articles of impeachment against President Bush in the next two weeks.
Sheehan said she will run against the San Francisco Democrat in 2008 as an independent if Pelosi does not seek by July 23 to impeach Bush. That’s when Sheehan and her supporters are to arrive in Washington, D.C., after a 13-day caravan and walking tour starting next week from the group’s war protest site near Bush’s Crawford ranch.
“Democrats and Americans feel betrayed by the Democratic leadership,” Sheehan told The Associated Press. “We hired them to bring an end to the war. I’m not too far from San Francisco, so it wouldn’t be too big of a move for me. I would give her a run for her money.”
Sheehan announced in May that she was leaving the anti-war movement and selling her 5-acre Crawford lot. She said that she felt her efforts had been in vain and that she had endured smear tactics and hatred from the left, as well as the right.

*Well, if I were A Democrat I'd be pretty pissed at the party for not doing anything that they promised during the election. While I believe that Ms. Sheehan does not have the ability to really understand what's going on (outside of the tragic death of her son) and the reasons why we are still there, I think she will at least speak from the heart . I'd like to see how Pelosi would handle her challenge.

The silliest part of her statement is that she will "give Pelosi a run for her money." Sheehan doesn't have the kind of money tht Pelosi has. In fact, she doesn't have ANY money that I am aware of. Pelosi is a another wealthy politician. Go Cindy, but you do not have a chance. Will be interesting to see how NP responds.

I believe that Soros would back her and people like Sean Penn, Rosie O'Donnell and that gang would donate time, money and benefits. That's their decision. but yes, it is interesting to see how quick they rolled her under the bus once they had no more use for her.

Yes, this war is senseless, and we shouldn't have went over there, however, this does not degrade the soldiers who are over there just doing their jobs, and defending their country-after all, they have no choice now, because either they stay and fight, or they go to jail. Most men are going to fight, because they want to be seen as men, not cowards or jailbirds. Cindy Sheehan has to understand that although we shouldn't have ever went over there, now we can't just cut and run, because it is not that simple and easy. If Cindy Sheehan wants to run against Nancy Pelosi, that's her right as a U.S. citizen, however, I hope she goes and gets mental help first, and then stops being so stupid all the time.

Yep. She certainly has the right to run. I really feel kind of sorry for her. If she thought the Republicans were hard on her, just wait till she jumps into a political campaign! Her one-time friends and benefactors, the dems, will really chew her up.

Well that was an interesting reply. However, I believe that "intellectual" and "the left" are two words that should never go together. What you also fail to realize - being your such an independent thinker - is that as far as fund-raising and endorsements go, people like Penn, and O'Donnell will be with her. If you don't like to hear that, tough shit. When you ask if I care about those people, my answer is "yes" because they have a very open and wide platform to spread what I believe is false information , sloppy "research" (ie: the 9/11 conspiracy etc...) and disingenuous demands on 'real" people but not themselves (ie: the Global Warming debate). Also, Penn has befriended Sheehan and they have even discussed putting a movie or documentary together regarding her son's life. Penn was to play her son. Before critiquing my style, you may want to take a refresher course on how to begin a sentence and proper puncuation. I don't mind being called on whatever you think is fair game. Just do it correctly.
Finally, while I certainly don't owe you an explanation of where I get my news, I link articles from a wide variety of columists and newspapers. Bill O'Reilly is one of them because I respect him. I don't know where you get Rush from - though I am a big fan of the band. I rarely listen to Limbaugh because I actually work for a living. I agree with him on some issues and disagree with him on others.
