Let me guess CBS, ABC and CNN are right wing? Give me a break.

Well, the House voted today to bar the FCC from instituting the Fairness Doctrine, so the point is basically mute.

No, I did not say that! I'm saying these news media outlets have a corporate agenda b/c they are owned by corporations and can't be counted on to provide fact finding un-biased investigative news if doing so interferes with both their profit margins and if it negatively affects their corporate views and agenda.

Corporations are in the business of making MONEY and profits for their shareholders! There is profit in entertainment news....so unfortunately the American viewers are getting infotainment news b/c it SELLS!

For all intense and purposes the corporate owned news media outlets has been CANCELED! for the sake of Corporate Profits.

Man, i know I'm gonna regret this, but here goes.
Rasta, got a serious, non-partisan question for you. You bemoan corporate money. Just who would sponsor these unbiased investigative reports?
investigative reporting is like anything else, it requires money.
Where would you have this money come from?

See Rasta, this is where you and I differ....

If, IF this is the reason for the passing of the Fairness Doctrine, then bring it out and let the american public make the decision for themselves whether or not they want their government to undertake such a matter.

However, THAT is not what we are hearing from DC, is it?? What we ARE hearing is "we must silence the opinionheads of talk radio," more specifically, conservative talk radio.

If that is the selling point of bring this doctrine foward, the left is doing an absolutely horrible job of selling this crap, and I am really surprised that you of all people would accept this!!
What you are saying and what someone like John Kerry, Diane Feinstein, Trent Lott, and others are saying are two totally entirely different things.

I for one would venture to state that our representatives have MUCH MORE important matters to tackle, instead of trying to silence talk radio....

It is dead.

The american public killed this sham of a Amnesty bill, and they will have their voices heard over this misnamed "Fairness Doctrine...."

Quite pathetic, really.

It was stated in another thread, but the reason the Fairness Doctrine was brought forth in the first place during the 20s-30s was because radio was the ONLY medium available to the public.

Fast foward to now. With 24 hour this and that, internet radio, satellite radio, and AM radio STILL in existence, the choices are limitless. The availability for the left and right to voice their opinions are there; the right has done a better job of getting their message out there, while the left has lagged (well, let's be honest, they've sucked).
Well GF , in order to be neutered you have to at least have some balls in the first place . I think all of the soy in the liberal diet has rendered their balls shriveled and useless . Some of the republicans have been eating the same diet evidently . Here is something they do not count on , the AMERICAN PEOPLE will not be silenced ! The AMERICAN PEOPLE are informed ! It is the television and print media that gives the impression all Americans are stupid because they only focus on stupidity . You know how it is , when you talk to someone in a foreign country they usually say they expected something completely different . The left has NO message except surrender and and higher taxes . they still THINK they WON the last election because they are so dense they cannot see the Republicans LOST it . The next election is going to be fun indeed . In the words of Admiral Yamamoto , "they have awoken a sleeping giant" .
