The question is , why do these predominately conservative areas keep voting in IDIOTS for local office ?
In answer to your question, we'll go south to north - Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach counties, three southernmost counties on Florida's east coast. Miami-Dade is 100% liberal except for the Cuban population (e.g. Little Havana, etc.). As Miami-Dade became blacker, browner and poorer (yes, I know you've heard of South Beach, but that's the exception), whites moved further north into Broward County. Miami-Dade's overwhelmingly Hispanic and African American populations now dominate Broward County. They began to move into Palm Beach County, the next northernmost county, but the very high cost of housing and living has thus far kept them to a minimum. That's why Palm Beach County is a bastion of formerly northeastern LIMOUSINE LIBERALS. West Palm Beach for example has a Dem. Mayor (lousy Lois Frankel, a former NE liberal...no limousine), but she must contend with a majority of conservative commissioners. Likewise she must contend with a majority of conservative county commissioners. Right now she's under investigation for bribery and several of the liberal city and county commissioners have already been indicted and convicted. All are Democrats. The west cost (Redneck Riviera) is populated by the old-time real Floridians (extremely conservative) and former mid and southwesterners who are overwhelmingly conservative. Their numbers outrun the three southernmost east coast counties time and time again because the current populations there are (1) too dumb to vote; (2) too stoned to get up on election day; (3) are illegals and couldn't care less, although some of them do try, and we supply them with a form to complete and sign. Upon checking afterward we find that the addresses are empty lots, etc., so their votes get tossed out (Dems. don't like this tossing out practice; they insist the illegals have rights, too). In the 08 election we'll have to deal with convicted felons who now immediately upon release have their voting rights reinstated, and we'll have to supply the moron voters with paper receipts after they've screwed up on the touch screen voting machines.

I worked at the polls during the 2000 presidential elections. The media never told the public the fact that there was no story. The ballots and chads are still stored in bound cartons in a highly visible room at the entrance to the the Supervisor of Elections Office on Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. in W. Palm Beach. No storage facility wants them. You can actually see the cartons through the glass doors when you enter the building.

I still say if you cannot compete a basic skills test you should not be allowed to vote . The democrats would be history .

K and others who work at the polls during the elections here agree with you 100%. Since our touch screen voting machines are programmed in seven languages and 17 dialects, we'd have to administer the proficiency test in the same number of languages and dialects.

It just gets more and more absurd!
