My mother fried liver until it was so hard and dry the government used it to make shoes for the troops.

My mother could cook anything that took all day to cook, soups, sauces, stews, roast etc. When it came to anything that took finesse it was still cooked for hours, just to make sure!

Mine too! My mom subscribed to the school of thought that if cooking chicken for 40 minutes would make it done, cooking it for 2 hours would make certain. For the most part, our chicken didn't even taste like chicken!
