what kind of game is Wal-Mart playing?
I just saw a TV commercial for Wal-Mart’s $4 prescription plan. One supposed customer went from paying $100 for her prescription to paying $4 for her prescription.
Now, I gather that Wal-Mart can sell $4 prescriptions because Wal-Mart is selling generic versions of name brand drugs. But, what I don’t understand is if there is a generic for a particular prescription medication, why would this Wal-Mart customer still be paying $100 for it?

She's not, she's paying $4.00 for it, didn't you watch the commercial?

She said she had been paying $100 for it. Then Wal-Mart's program came along and she's now paying $4 for it. So if Wal-Mart can buy this $4 generic, why couldn't this supposed Wal-Mart customer?
In your libertarian world the corporation can do no wrong, so you cannot comprehend that a corporation like Wal-Mart has a commercial that borders on the fraudulent.

Wow.. Wal-Mart made a $100 prescription available to a customer for $4.00 with their new program. How much more fraudulent and evil can they get?
I only pay $2.00 a piece for my prescriptions on my prescription program. Do you think my program is fraudulent too?
What about the drug companies that make it possible for some people to get their medication for free? Do you think they're defrauding the public as well?
I don't think I'm the one with a comprehension problem here.

Let me see if I understand this. You have already made clear you hate Wal-mart...we get that. But now you hate them because they can sell someone a generic for $4 that used to cost them $100. The bastards!!!
Does the term "buying power" mean anything to you? Also, if you had been following this story, Wal-mart has already stated they will lose money on some $4 generics.
How in the world do you see that commercial as fraudulent?

You really are a jackass. If Wal-Mart can sell this prescription for $4 it means that Wal-Mart is selling is a generic version of a name brand drug. If Wal-Mart can buy this generic, then so to can this supposed Wal-Mart customer; the customer need not pay $100 for her medicine because she need not buy the name brand. She can buy the generic and thus save money without Wal-Mart’s help.

Again, this supposed Wal-Mart customer can buy the generic that Wal-Mart is selling from retailers other than Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is not giving this customer a bargain that the customer cannot already get from other retailers.

Maybe this happens kind of like how Best Buy will sell CD's cheaper than other places. They lose money on that CD sale, but they are betting that you'll see something else inside that you'll buy that is overpriced. Just an excuse to get you in ther store maybe?
Don't get me wrong: !abajo de Wal-Mart!

I do get your point, they were ripping us off and now have become the "good guys", but where did all of our priced prescripton money go? REFUND! Anyway, I use to get my prescriptions filled at Walmart, it went from $9 to $4 so now I'm saving $5. But, I'm switching to Walgreens, who offers the same program because I'm tired of dealing with the low mentality of Walmart customers.

Blue Cross/Blue Shield of NC offers prescriptions for free* if you use generic versions.
*Not really free because it is an insurance that you pay in advance.
