FACT: The repubs declined these security nuances and even quoted that some meausres were a bit extreme..clinton didn't get the legislation passed.
Bush did and accomplished these new laws based on EVIDENT current lapses in security.

I am pretty sure that Monkey is referring to the Omnibus Counterterrorism Act, which was proposed by Daschle. It is very similar to the Patriot ACt and the Republicans made a mistake by not passing it then (1996 maybe?). You can also check out Executive Order 12949 which allowed for warrantless searches. It was simply enacted with a executive order and Congress had nothing to do with it. Both are easily found on the internet. |
