Tempus fugits ...
Bush won't talk with the Iranians and the Iranians won't stop their nuke program without talking to George Bush. So (while Bush sits on his thumb) who wins while the Iranians press on on with their enrichment programs? Duh?

The Iranians wouldn't stop their weapons program if they talked to Allah himself. I have a hard time understanding how anyone can argue that we MUST believe whatever the Iranians and North Koreans say. OF COURSE WE CAN TRUST THEM!

Some of our intel was from inside Saddam's own people, of course he secretly leaked he had WMD, he had to many enemies. It might have been a finger in his pocket, but he said it was a gun. People who don't flinch...get hit alot.

This is dumb. Let's just ask this then. If they lie to us, and we are consequently attacked, why should we fight back?

You got two choices here, 1) talk to 'em, 2) don't talk to 'em. Either way, being attacked is a possibility. We know for sure they will go ahead with their programs if we don't talk to 'em. We don't know what they will do if we do talk to 'em. Who knows? By talking to them, there is the possibility we can avoid the stupendous mistakes made by Bush in Iraq.

Geordge, what are we going to talk to them about that they won't lie to us about?

I never said we shouldn't talk to them, but rather what should we say to them? By talking in the wrong direction we run the risk of repeating the grave mistakes of Jimmy Carter whose ideology of appeasement has had some impact on the current make-up of Iran.
Second, forget about giving them a chance to lie to us. They don't need to lie. We should probably listen to what they are saying and believe it.

Rob, I'm not convinced that they lie to us any more than we lie to them. Not after Tariq Aziz told us the absolute truth about Iraq - and George Bush did not. Btw, wasn't it the hero of the right, Ronald Reagan, who said "trust, but verify"?
