The important thing to remember is that the terrorists are there now. Just like McCain said last night, we can't focus on what happened years ago. Decisions must be made about what's happening now and right now, Bush is fighting the terrorists in Iraq.

Couldn't that logic be applied anywhere? Isn't it reasonable to conclude that if we are stupid enough to allow terrorists to attack our troops, there will be terrorists there? The logic should be: why would we do it? What do we have to gain by taking such risks? What is it suppose to accomplish? Could the presence of a foreign power, make someone into a terrorists who otherwise wouldn't be?

Let's say at some point, Iraq doesn't have a civil war and things settle down. Our troops will still attract terrorists. It isn't possible to seal off a country and prevent terrorists to enter it, and some Iraqis will object to a foreign presence. Is there any possible scenario that could possibly be considered a win? I don't even see how winning or losing is involved. It isn't a war. Nation building is not a military objective and anyone with military experience would be quick to tell you that. Our military is, therefore, just a security force while nation building is going on. There is an alternative. Let the Iraqis be their own security force. Winning and losing doesn't apply to them, either. They can either do a good job or a bad one and no matter how bad it got, it only took around 100 American lives to take the country in the first place. You could always take the country back.

I think it is stupid to use troops like bait to find terrorists.

The topic has veered from the influences who pretend they are pointing out a serious world threat when they are really manipulating world opinion in order to enforce the Plan For A New American Century.

The latest republican tack is to say "The mainstream is so far past that WMD business etc." These people really feel free referring to their own propaganda and only their own propaganda as reality. They're fascists. It's a fascist strategy to make their opinions the one and only opinion and it is done through corruption and seizure of the media and government. It's the military forcing its want through phony public opinion that is dutifully given airtime and legitimacy through our phony media.

The war will be 'lost' when the military bastards who saw an opening in the fascist Bush administration run out of money and bankrupt our country because their egos were desperate to play out some kind of post Vietnam military fantasy our country and reality couldn't support any more. We know who the real 'dead enders' are...

I don't believe the military has anything to do with it. The military doesn't set policy, it obeys orders. Only civilians are that stupid and good military advice has certainly been ignored. I am sure Powell would have objected to this and the Powell Doctrine was not applied. I place this on people like Rumsfeld, Cheney and Bush, primarily.
