Tax increases will not effect the deficit or the debt. Only spending levels will do that.

Just as Clintoon lowered spending, by not doing maintenance and upkeep on vital systems, so will the next administration. Then the one after that will require even greater deficits and more borrowing to brings those system back to par. It's the same cycle over and over. Thats why government is so wasteful, nothing is done in a timely manner, only as a last resort, when the costs are the highest.

The only people who will be hurt are those who work for a living. Their checks will be smaller, while everything they require to live will cost more.

Homeland Security is run by Bush's Cabinet member Chertoff. He solely controls our borders via agencies like CBP, ICE, Border Patrol, coast Guard, etc.

FED/FOMC Bernake and Sec of Treasury Paulson are Bush appointees and Cabinet positions. They sole control the value of the dollar without any Congressional Control. The value of the USD$ controls the value of gas and everything else.
