Seems to me that in these days of e-mail, video teleconferencing, high fuel costs, overnight mail, etc., the answer should be NONE. NUNCA. NADA.

Do you need a $30,000,000 dollar bizjet to close a $30,000 sale? I dunno. Maybe YOU do. I don't.
The answer is as many as they want and are legal.

The answer is as many as they can pay for without asking for a tax break

They should get whatever legal tax breaks are allowed. Even with those tax breaks, Corporations pay waaaay more in taxes than individual citizens do.

And so what if e-mail, videoconferencing, and overnight mail are available? You really think the Gov't ought to have the last word on HOW a business conducts itself at that level? What if I decided your use of a land line was wasteful...would you think the Government ought to step in and mandate an internet phone for you?

I am not saying that indulging doesn't happen
Thank you. Now the only question is whether that 'indulging' takes place at taxpayer expense.

>>>No, but the last word should be based on economics rather than 'image'. There should be no economic incentive for flying a Gulfstream to Orange County over picking up a phone or, if need be, flying JetBlue. Gettin' it now?

Excellent points, George, that can be applied to the military/gov't as well.
