Demagoguing big oil's windfall profits

Most of Obama's money on ads in Nc for the last few days was an ad that opens up by attacking Clinton's idea of a tax holiday for the summer from federal gas taxes. He mentions gouging and windfall profits and yet no liberals on here can defend his attacks on big oil.

Early on Obama attacked the idea in large part due to the fact that it would cost the government BILLIONS of dollars in lost revenue for the summer months. Clinton is talking about it saving the truckers about 2 BILLION in operating costs that will not cause further inflation in food and other prices due to the increased shipping costs. Clinton does not get off the hook because Exxon and the other companies would not give up BILLIONS in revenue if she hit them with additional taxes so the price would not go down at the pumps if her plan went into effect. Instead Clinton wants to keep the taxes and revenue the same by generating a back door tax on consumers.

Obama and Clinton have spent a lot of money pushing gouging and windfall profit charges against big oil so why do no liberals here seem to care about discussing what their candidates say are so important?

We are on the verge of a complete catastrophe if the federal government gets control and places limits on the private sectors pofitability!

Before any government can place these limitaions is after the burden of proof there is a MONOPOLY! Without proof leave it alone!

Our government plays favorites with oil companies often not allowing small ones to drill or limit their wells output while allowing others to pump and drill much more. Open up to free enterprize like back in the 1970's and watch oil drop back to $1 per gallon!

Keep that evil government out of the private sector as much as possible. they've screwed up absolutely everything they touch...

If the libs take the Whitehouse to go with the Congress then their anti-consumer positions on big oil will lead to long lines at the pump again. Cap CEO pay, stop companies from making a meager 10% profit margin due the size of the company, hit the company with huge tax increases will result in problems with getting the supply. As gasoline prices climb higher and higher as a result the libs will start price controls that will put us in long gas lines hoping we can get gas to get to and from work.

What I cannot understand is how there can be so many libs on here and none of them are willing to even talk about Obama' nor Clinton's promises to stop the 'gouging' and 'windfall' profits.

If you people lived in a community that was supported by oil back in the 1970's you'd be able to see how ridiculous some of you sound.

When the oil crunch came by capping wells, preventing more drilling near the end of the Carter years it took away thousands of jobs in my state alone. Gas prices shot up fast, infaltion was sky high and more and more people lost their jobs.

History taught us to not regulate the oil industry and it will provide us cheap gas! Regulate it and the problems grow....
