Politicians sell their influence. People like Obama take money from CEOs to fund their campaigns. That has nothing to do with Obama/Clinton demagoguing big oil. Oil company execs are having to give Obama/Clinton a ton of money just to try to get a stay of execution. Businesses realize they must pay the politicians off in order to be allowed to be in business.

Petey, you have not been reading my posts on other threads or you would know that McCain in particular I hold in contempt. This thread is one I generated specifically as Clinton and Obama are having an ad war in Nc on this issue they are demagoguing.

In one ad Obama say that what we need is a president who is going to tell you the truth after he has talked about big oil price gouging and making windfall profits. And that bring me back to my questions. Is a 2.8% growth in profit on an increase of 7.4% growth in sales a windfall profit?

If you cannot stick to the point in the thread go take some Ritalin and come back when you can focus.

Where are all the libs that Obama and Clinton are pandering to? Surely at least one or two of you want to support your candidates?

Supply & demand are market forces, the oil companies just sell their products on the open markets, like any other comodity, for whatever the market will bare. There is nothing wrong with a good profit. The major problem lies in the blocking of refineries and drilling at home, and that's where libs fit in, destroying the free markets and driving up costs.

Clinton and Obama both have ads running in Nc on it. Obama is up to 3, one of them attacking Clinton for wanting to suspend the federal gas tax for the summer. Clinton has a couple of ads herself, but Obama is paying for a LOT more air time.

In one Obama specifically talks about windfall profits and stopping the price gouging by big oil. At the end he talks about how we need a president who tells the truth.

Clearly the candidates believe that big oil's price gouging to make windfall profits. That being the case I want to see if any libs believe big oil is price gouging and making windfall profits.
