The evil rich pays more
DAMNED EVIL RICH PEOPLE Don't liberals just love to holler about "tax cuts for the rich?" It doesn't matter what the facts are – people just love to hear that stuff. In a country awash with achievement envy (a/k/a "wealth envy") people just love to hear that those who have accomplished more than they are going to be hammered for daring to excel.
Well ... not to burst your bubble, but a report from the National Center for Policy Analysis shows that the tax burden has been increasing on the evil rich faster than their incomes have been going up.
Here's a quickie look at the figures since 1986. - The share of the income tax paid by the top 1 percent of income earners went from 25.8 percent to over 37 percent.
- The percentage their total income that the top 1 percent of income earners paid from their income to the federal government rose from 18.3 percent to 19.6 percent. The percentage paid by the bottom fifth of income earners went from 0.4 percent to zero percent.
- The income share of the top 1 percent rose from 11.3 percent to 19 percent while their share of income taxes rose from 26 to 37 percent. That's a 7.7 percent increase in income and a 11 percent increase in income taxes.
Clearly these evil rich people are getting away with murder. We need to really raise their taxes, don't we?

Something else folks might want to think about before they decide to vote for a democrat. Now what was it that Obama wants to raise the capital gains tax up to? 25% or 35%?

Something people might also like to think about, a lesson in democracy (well relative democracy) that people don't tell you. You know why relative democracy is so successful and indeed increasingly popular? Because relative democracy gives people just enough that they will take it in the ass and wont cause any problems. If people are starving they'll fucking riot until they get food, they'll be prepared to die to make their point to their government. You people, well, you have your low paid jobs, your family, your Pop Idol, alcohol, drugs, football, social issues like abortion, separation of church and state, are video games hurting our kids, is Brittney Spears insane, general consumption of unnecessary goods which make us rich and you don't actually need, tax rebates that make you think you've won something when all you've done is get back a small portion of what you gave us, and of course the greatest of them all, patriotism, the list goes on and on. We know, we made it.
A lot of you know you're being played, but you still wont do anything about it. You know why? Cos the world is full of winners and losers, guess which you are?

Hi Rob,
I could show (and already have shown) you lots of statistics here, Rob. Yes, the richer classes (mainly the top 20%) are paying a larger percentage of the total federal tax burden....just as your article says. However, your article fails to mention that they are also owning a larger and larger share of the total wealth...so much so that they have been garnering a larger and larger share of the after-tax income since 1986 and before.
In short, you just posted yet another skewed article written for the large and rather ignorant conservative masses and one with some of that jarring conservative hype, but without much substance......off you go.....

Which just proves those who work the hardest, and smartest, garner the most benefit. Try it, you might like it.

Maybe...and maybe not, Teak. I don't believe in socialism, but I also don't believe in Laissez-faire capitalism either, Teak....cuz I think you eventually end up with one large fish in the pond. Wasn't the wealth distribution in the 1890s (before any regulation) something like 5% of the population controlling 97% of the wealth....with many of the working class living in poverty? Except for the 5%, we must have been one stupid and lazy country, huh?

But you also have to be capable of independent thought, so you might be there.
