Default Congress is on the Ball-Strike Two

Baseball On the Agenda...just ahead of world peace

Well finally, our Congress, to be more accurate, the United States Congress is engaged in some important work. Fixing Social Security, solving the health care “crisis” or perhaps finding a way to raise the standing of our Country on the world scene, could those issues finally be on the agenda?

Oh noooooo, none of the above. Rather Congress is investigating the use of steroids among baseball players. Let me say that another way. Congress cannot agree on any important issue or solve any national problem, but can find the time to investigate baseball. I say again baseball! You know that activity where grown men play a game for millions of dollars and families are ripped off paying their salaries. The game where you get a card with a player’s picture on it when you buy bubble gum and the game that is supposedly the national pastime. Well, I guess that is the answer. If the national pastime does not deserve the attention of Congress what does?

Of course, given the vast amount of experience in illegal and immoral activity who better than Congress to investigate illegal and immoral activity? And isn’t it interesting that a Senate or House Committee has the nerve to ask someone to testify under oath…we should be so lucky on the campaign trail.

What the heck, can we reasonably expect a member of Congress to pass up an opportunity to be on national television even if they are making fools of themselves, a photo op is a photo op afterall.

Default they did somethin' good today though....

Bush to Congress: "Extend the Protect America act, TONIGHT, and grant the telecoms retro-active immunity, or nukes will go off in your backyard first thing tomorrow morning".

Congress to Bush: "Oh yeah? They broke the law? They're not supposed to be able to do that. Tell us exactly how they did it."

Ha ha - Congress tells Bushie: "We don't believe you - where's the beef?"

So now, Bushie's either gotta put up, or shut up. I don't know what took those clowns in Congress so long to figure this one out, but better late than never, I suppose.

Exactly! Screw those bastids! Last I heard, there are 47 lawsuits currently pending in federal court. Imagine that - 47 people think they can prove that they were illegally wiretapped!

And these idiot Repli-Cons (with Clownie-boy over there in the White House being the Borg-In-Chief), have the nerve to say, "ah gee, the poor telecoms won't co-operate anymore".....

Well, duh..... NO SH&T, SHERLOCK!!!

That is exactly the purpose - the telecoms should not cooperate when some idiot from the federal government asks them to do something illegal!!!

Those bozos are supposed to know the law - they get trained in it!!! The very first question they're supposed to ask is, "where's the warrant"? Any six year old school child knows that.... Jeez......

If some guy in a black suit and dark shades came up to me and told me to wiretap someone, I'd tell him to go take a hike! If he wants to me to believe some goddam "national security" excuse, he's gonna show me proof, and then after that, he's gonna show me an authorization from the President himself, which I will duly make multiple copies of, and file away for posterity and just in case I mysteriously disappear and all that jazz.....

Ha - did you hear the one about the Ricin down in Texas (UT, I think it was?)? Dr. Ellen someone-or-other told Chertoff's clowns where to stick it, and that's exactly what I would have done too! Screw those idiots! They got some nerve thinkin' they're gonna plug up every security leak for raw materials - I mean, what's next, household ammonia? That's a very dangerous substance, it can be used to make both drugs and bombs!!! What's next, lock up every single bottle of household ammonia everywhere in the country? Can't go beneath the kitchen sink without the federal guvmin's permission? Friggin' bozos - why don't they do something useful, instead of wasting my taxpayer dollars on this idiotic crap?

There, I feel better now....
