40%
And that 40% is being spent at much higher rates than what it would cost to keep a bigger military and pay our own soldiers to do those jobs.
My daughter trained in Fort Lenorardwood for basic and that Fort is all but a ghost town and in bad disrepair.
Contractors mow the grass. Contractors do all the cooking, run the PX, just about every duty that used to be done by a soldier is contracted out.
And fort Leonard Wood was a engineering battalion . Does not seem like very many engineers are being trained there now for the army.
Its a basic training facility and not much else.
And they were tearing down really nice housing on base while I was there. I asked the Fort commander why contractors were tearing down the houses? He told me that they were being torn down and would be immediately rebuilt even though nobody lived in them. Why? Why in the world would the military be doing that? Because he says if we don't use the money the congress gave us this year for military housing they would not give us as much next year.
Thats a fine example of how our military and government wastes tax payer money.
