I don't think this is about gay and lesbian students but for transgendered students who can be either gay, straight, or bisexual.
its very hard for these students and I understand them wanting to use the restroom without any extra issues. some transgendered studnets now use the designated handicapped restrooms but these students aren't handicapped.

These fags need to learn that if they dont BOTHER anyone in the restroom, then they wont have any problems. The only reason a fag gets his head shoved into a toilet or gets his lights punched out in a public restroom, is because he goes crazy when he goes in there. The smell of SEX to a fag is feces, because they are fascinated with sodomy. People dont take kindly to being hassled by fags in a restroom, so people will generally put a stop to it when a faggot moves in on them. If only faggots will learn that normal people dont go to the restroom to find a sex partner. Stupid demorat fags....all they can do is vote for demorats....they serve no other function.

Fags are fascinated with toilets. On the interstate, fags will hang out at a toilet and try to pick up little kids, and hassle straights. The problem is so prevalent, that many people have come to call the interstate rest stops names like "lollipop park" and "pickle park" and so forth. Every now and then State Troopers have to go in there and arrest all of the fags to clean up the parks. You can bet faggotry is dangerous to society.

some of these students are harassed while trying to use the washrooms.
contrary to what you see on tv sex reassignment in the US is very expensive and takes two years of counseling before the actually surgery. typically its more than one surgery. its hard when someone is in the middle of the reassignment to not draw attention to themselves. they typically don't advertise that they are changing the gender they were physically born as.

some campuses let these students use the disabled bathroom for this reason. they have a medical issue since they are recieving medical assistance, but others either don't have this policy or lack private bathrooms for persons who have medical issues.

its has nothing to do with shame of the reassignment. but of not wanting to be bothered or be have their business displayed.
