Seems to me this is corporate sponsored....and you're just stirring up hate here...
Michelle Malkin » Miller Beer steps in it again: The Folsom Street Fair fiasco
Quote:
When last I wrote about Miller Beer, the company was cluelessly sponsoring illegal alien protests and spinning furiously. Doesn’t look like they learned to stay away from radical politics. Miller went ahead and sponsored the “Folsom Street Fair” in San Francisco…billed as the “world’s largest leather event.”
Here’s the Catholic-denigrating promotional poster for the Miller-backed fair via CNSNews.com, depicting the Last Supper as a gathering of S&M enthusiasts:
Take a closer look. The bread and wine at the supper table are replaced with sex toys. Swell.
In response to complaints from Christian groups, Miller has asked for its logo to be removed. And the Folsom organizers are now disingenuously arguing that they neeeever meant to offend:
There was no intention to be particularly pro-religion or anti-religion with this poster; the image is intended only to be reminiscent of the ‘Last Supper’ painting. We hope that people will enjoy the artistry for what it is - nothing more or less. Many people choose to speculate on deeper meanings.
The NYSun reports that while Miller requested that the poster be changed, it’s still sponsoring the event:
As of yesterday, the Miller Light and Miller Genuine Draft logos, are still on the poster on the fair’s Web site. It also lists the beers as “presenting sponsors” of the event, along with two “hardcore” pornography sites, Nakedsword.com and TitanMen.com.
Take a gander at the NSFW website for the Folsom Street Fair. Here are a few of the runner-up promotional posters…

Not so fast......there Cookie,
The Folsom Street Fair, which is expected to draw more than 300,000 people from around the world on Sunday, lists among its "Supporting Sponsors" two government departments: Grants for the Arts and SF Environment.
On its Web site, Grants for the Arts (GFTA) lists its goal as "to promote and support the widest possible variety of arts and culture activities in the city to both visitors and residents."
And on its page describing funding provided to parades and celebrations, the Web site states that the department has provided $22,000 for the Folsom Street Fair.
That's roughly the same amount GFTA gives to the organizers of the local St. Patrick's Day Parade and Cinco de Mayo celebration, but nowhere near the $78,000 the San Francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Parade receive.
GFTA receives its funding through what's called the "transient occupancy tax" or "hotel tax," a 14 percent charge assessed on every person who stays at any hotel within the city/county.
According to the San Francisco Convention and Visitors' Bureau Web site, the city/county has 32,822 available hotel rooms as of last January, and in the 2005/06 fiscal year, the hotel tax generated $179 million in revenue. That money was used to fund "services from schools to police, the arts and affordable housing."
The other government entity that serves as a sponsor of the weekend event is the San Francisco Department of the Environment - or SF Environment - which states on its Web site that it "works with community groups and city agencies to actively promote and increase the quality of life for residents."
Once again here is a list of sponsors..make sure to avoid their products:
Miller Lite/Miller Genuine Draft
NakedSword
TitanMen.com
GLOSS
RECON
Hot House Entertainment
Elbow Grease
Mr. S Leather
Maximus Vodka
Steamworks
BigMuscle.com
Blow Buddies
Dungeonbeds
Leatherpost.com
Joie de Vivre Hospitality
Powerhouse
Now mind you all this is taking place on city streets..just a partial list of the things that were taking place all against laws regarding decency and child abuse:
Large numbers of men walking on public streets either fully or partially naked;
Groups of men engaging in sex acts on the street as crowds walked by and snapped pictures and police officers merely watched;
Theatrical sadomasochistic whippings and floggings - drawing blood and turning the willing "victim's" skin bright red;
Flaunting of female nudity and real or simulated sexual acts;
"Master-slave relationships" in which a man or woman "walked" a subservient "slave" with a collar and chain;
Anti-Christian imagery in the form of the "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence" - men dressed in drag mocking Catholic nuns - greeting incoming attendees at Folsom; and

And what of the government funding movies on religion?
The Dangers of Government-Sponsored Art [incl. Aminah Beverly McCloud, Omid Safi, "America at a Crossroads"] - Campus Watch
Quote:
So it was that in March 2004 these three men joined forces to enter a competition to write, direct and produce a documentary for PBS on the inability of "moderate Muslims" to be heard in or out of their own communities because the Jihadists either murder them, threaten to do so, or join forces with the PC Elite to silence them as "too westernized" to be real Muslims. The name of this film was to be Islam vs. Islamists.
When CPB announced the competition to receive proposals for documentaries to examine "America at a Crossroads", promoted as a means to begin a national dialogue on America's war against Islamic terror, there were an unprecedented 440 entries. CPB was to commit 20 million US taxpayer dollars to fund the final 20 or so winners. PBS would air the top 11 as a series over a one week period in mid-April 2007 during prime time.
To understand this proposal correctly, the reader should know that CPB was created at the height of the Great Society push of the Johnson administration. In 1967 Congress created CPB as a "non-governmental" non-profit corporation which Congress would fund to create the physical and financial infrastructure for what has become the nationwide network of public television and radio stations most of which are members of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). Today, CPB receives $400 million annually from US taxpayers and is seeking an increase to $440 million in the form of an advance for fiscal year 2010. PBS receives hundreds of millions of dollars worth of broadcast rights paid for by CPB. In other words, the taxpayer funds PBS.
On January 30, 2006, CPB announced that the PBS

It's simply a percentage of local taxes for a local community event as part of an overall financial support of a San Francisco area event. Are you from San Francisco?
If not, so what. It's community funds being used in reflection of that said community.
It's fine with me. Why should I get all flustered out how a local community uses their local funds?
Seems kind of hypocritical to Libertarian leanings to me.
