Good God!
Foreigners don't see the English (myself) as having no sense of humour? Do they?
Do you see the English as "arrogant, unfriendly and with no sense of humour"?

I don't mind it if you do, because that is exactly my character (except I have a sense of humour, but I am very snobbish). Nevertheless, you thick skinned people, if you don't mind: most Brits see Americans as that description.

Well, actually, that article goes on to say that Americans, Australians and other English speaking nations disagree with that description.

I can understand why the other nations (European), describe us in this light: jealousy. Jealousy is the same reason many people dislike Americans (in my opinions), and Europeans (please don't call Britain European) are particularly jealous.

Still Dizzy, the word limey does not go back 500 years, especially not in relation to eating limes on board ships. Limes were discovered on the island of Tahiti and this by Captain Cook in the late 1700's. The first Navy to act on behalf of their crew, when it came to reguards to the scurvy, was the US Navy and this took place in the early 1800's. Rum was the only ingredient that the English believed would cure or prevent scurvy and only in the sense that it took their mind off the problem.

Again the weather extremes are why I enjoy Oklahoma. Fairly mild winters and summers hotter than hell.

I am part Italian and Mexican. That means I hold a grudge but I'm too lazy to do anything about it!

However, I interpret its use in the post, as a word intended to be derogatory.
Fair enough, how about the term "Union Jack-off" Has a brilliant ring aye, Governor?
