If people in Kosovo wish to assert there own sovereignty. What good reason can you give me to deny them that? They where victims of genocidal rampages, Communist tyranny, and a series of civil wars and ethnic conflicts that has left a sour taste of cooperation with Serbs. I can understand there need or want to leave Serbia and take control of there own lives. It is the right thing to support. Same reason I would side with Chechnya or any ethnic group that would wish to leave the hegemony of an oppressive or un-understanding majority.

Russia is only kicking a fuss because they run gas and oil pipes through the region. They are against it for two reasons. It will cut there bottom line, and might encourage whats left of the Russian Federation to assert nationalist tendencys and they will be left with only Russia.

Serbia is probably against it for taking a good chunk out of that piss ant little Nation and losing its trade routes to the southern Nations of that region.

In short, I really just don't care what Russia or Serbia wants. But it's not my or your opinions that matter. I believe Kosovo has spoken.

I think the underlying point is. Is that people in Kosovo feel safer not being ruled by Serbia. Who, if you know a little bit about History in that region from the second half of the 20th Century. Does not give the Albanians much of an incentive to sue for peace with the Serbs.
