An even bigger greenhouse gas
Methane hydrate is thought by some to be the big new energy source of the future. Thing is, it makes oil, coal and natural gas look pretty tame to the environment. If it does become the 'new oil' in fifty years or so, then North and Central America will replace the Middle East as the energy source for the world.

The biggest 'greenhouse gas' is H2O.

He's checking out his Nobel Prize. An award most Republicans aren't eligible for, as you have to show at least a modicum of intelligence.

Well he did also invent the internet had his Mother sing the Union Song to him as a child claims he was one of the Senators who exposed the Love Canal BEFORE HE WAS even elected and who can forget the famous " my sister died from cancer, and I am TOTALLY against smoking," while he was still growing, AND selling tobbaco. The biggest greenhouse gas is H20, true. It's not an issue of the biggest it's the issue of the gas that tips the temperature over time. Methane is a more concentrated green house gas but dissipates rather quickly. CO2 does not. That's why it's long term effect is more pronounced at tipping the temperature.
I'm sure you all knew that though.

I guess that eliminates you from any future consideration, huh?

Yeah, and this methane hydrate is supposed to churn out more of the harmful stuff than anything we have now. But hey, if that nanotech stuff comes through it doesn't matter. On a positive note, if it does pan out then the US is sitting on a huge gold mine.

>>>I hear it just has to be kept contained until it is burned. IOW, you can't turn it loose into the air.

Yes Methane hydrate can release massive amounts. It is hard to pull from the bottom of the ocean one because most are deep in the ocean & two it is volatile as it converts from frozen hydrate directly to a gas & is hard to contain.
One of the current ongoing theories for some of the mysterious missing ships in the Bermuda triangle is massive releases of methane hydrate. Because it becomes immediate gas as it rises & in large bubbling gases ships in it's path simply fall through the bubbles & sink.
Fun.
