Some say the government should fund the R&D but I don’t believe the government has a good track record in energy development.
The technology you see in many places that is being devoloped right now is from labs like Oakridge or MIT who are working with the government through that type of funding. It has been this way for many things, the governemtn works in many ways you are not realizing; in collaboration with others....they actually have great track record in this regard.

Hmmm...all these problem and we are still out stripping what can provided for mankind with overpopulating the planet every year. The numbers of people are not going down on the planet, if they were I might be worried about the problems you outline...they are not.

If you look around you the vast majority of the technology you see was developed in the private sector by individuals perusing their self interest. Click me

The planet’s growing populations is the solution, not the problem. Every individual born has the potential to be another Albert Einstein, Louis Pasteur or Norman Borlaug. The more people born, the more brains are available to solve the world’s problems. Click here for more

pursuing self interests and the government's track record of success and failure are two different things.

What is the government’s track record in regards to energy?

The sun doesn’t have an infinite supply of energy but that is meaningless as far as the population of this planet is concerned. The same rule applies to the number of resources on the planet.

The sun energy part I agree with

but your last sentence is fucking ridiculous!!!

If the population grows indefinitely, eventually there would not be enough consumable resources available for everyone....even if the entire planet were devoted to only feeding humans, eventually we run out of land and potable water.....

That is an interesting part of the comment...

There was a report about water rationing in Atlanta that is happening right now. It was sdetermined the lack on water is just TOO MANY people in one place that the underground aquifer cannot handle. This is TOO many people, nothing else is involved.

I don't understand how anyone could possibly imagine that the human population can keep expanding indefinitely, while this remains the only known planet that can support human life....

Getting off the planet somehow would be a way around that, but that is still science fiction....

....I've been reading different things about Atlanta, but so far all I've seen is blaming the drought.....that's interesting Cat....but not really surprising....

Given is only a partial listing that has come through NASA, there are energy related innovations throughout. I can go to the other government labs and get more for you but I think that would be way too long a post for you to read. I really don't think you know what you are talking about here.
