His cancer was diagnosed two years ago and is in remission. He will probably have flair ups, but they are treatable. I wish him a long life.
As far as a double standard, c'mon. There is a huge difference between people who have cancer and those of their support system. The support system often carries on with normal routines. Those that actually suffer from cancer, at times, are not able to function.
